This self-directed course, Defusing Hostile Interactions: A frontline Perspective is designed for people who find themselves faced with hostile or aggressive behaviour as a regular part of their jobs. Addressing these situations requires emotional energy and can result in increased stress in the moment, and can linger for sometime afterwards. The goal of this course is to enhance personal effectiveness in these situations as well as increasing one's personal safety. There will be a focus on what factors escalate hostility, and what personal strategies can be developed in response to hostile behaviour.

Welcome to Defusing Hostile Interactions

This two-day course, Defusing Hostile Interactions: An Front line Perspective is designed for people who find themselves dealing with hostile or aggressive behaviour as a part of their regular work. Dealing with these encounters requires not only emotional energy but also conscious defusing strategies. The hope that with increased awareness and effective engagement, one can minimize the impact of stress in the moment as well as any carry over stress.

The goal of the course is to enhance personal effectiveness and increase personal safety by identifying factors that escalate hostility, and develop personal strategies in addressing hostile behaviour.

Course Information:

  • This course will run from 8:30am – 4:30pm on Wednesday & Thursday June 9 & 10, 2021
