Up to this point we have discussed characteristics that predispose individuals to hostile outbursts. This information for the most part has been focused to the other. Now we will take a look at our response to anger or aggression and how these can escalate the emotional intensity of the interaction.
How we present ourselves through our body language, tone of voice, and choice of words, can impact the other. Now appreciating how anger arousal can impact our ability to listen and respond, we can take this learning to create opportunities for effective adjustments.
The next section of this course will discuss constructive and non-constructive responses to hostility.
